Multi-instrumentalist Jeff Oster is based in San Francisco, California, and lives in Alameda with his wife Toni, their two beautiful children, Jake and Samantha, their seriously deranged cat Max, and a goldfish named Zurg that likes to float upside down just for fun. He's been playing trumpet for nearly 40 years, has toured and recorded extensively, and has recently finished recording with Will Ackerman—guitarist, producer, and founder of Windham Hill Records. Oster plays locally with The Bob Claire Orchestra (www.bobclaire.com), a 10-piece extravaganza that got its start playing end-of-the-month parties on the Oakland-Alameda ferry.
"Matt's Mood" was produced by Will Ackerman and recorded at his Imaginary Road Studios in Windham County, Vermont (www.williamackerman.com), using a Digidesign Pro Tools system on a Mac. The Digidesign Pro Control provided engineer Brian Carrigan with a full-featured automated interface and 24 assignable motorized faders. The system was complemented with an Apogee A/D-D/A converter, Mix Farm cards, and 160 gigabytes of storage. The recording features Oster on trumpet, flugelhorn, synthesizers, and percussion; Philip Aaberg on synthesizers; Happy Rhodes on vocals; and Jeremy Mendicino on guitar. Drum tracks were programmed by Bryan Carrigan.
